Kua Team

Why does Kua have a Foundation and a Company?

In the last 12 months, a clear distinction was made between the activities of Kua Foundation Limited (Kua Foundation) and Kua Company Pty Ltd (Kua Company).

When it comes down to it, the relationship between the two entities is pretty simple.

Kua Foundation buys green coffee from disadvantaged smallholder farmers and then sells that coffee to Kua Company with a margin attached. That margin generates funds for the provision of benevolent relief by Kua Foundation and its partners.

Now, Kua Foundation can supply ethically sourced coffee to any coffee company interested in tackling intergenerational poverty and exploitative supply chains. And Kua Company can grow via mechanisms like shareholder investment (something not available within the charity model). We like to think of it as the best of both worlds.

The relationship between the two entities is currently managed via the MOU linked below.

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
